Goodness writing competition, terms and conditions

1. This competition is open to UK residents aged between two and twelve years old except employees and their immediate families of Tesco, their agents or anyone professionally connected with this competition. Parental/guardian consent required to enter. Schools entering pupils must provide parental/guardian consent and parental/guardian contact details for each entry.

2. Closing date for receipt of all entries is 11.55pm 15th April 2012.

3. Only one entry per child. Multiple entries will be disqualified.

4. To enter the competition, upload story and entry form to http://kidsbookclub.tescomagazine.com, post entry and entry form to Tesco Goodness Competition, c/o Cyborg House, Unit 5, Liberty Centre, Mount Pleasant, Wembley HA01TX or email to goodness@cyborg-group.com or fax entry and entry form to 020 8782 3322. Entries will only be accepted at these addresses. Maximum size of file is 2MB. Entries which exceed this size will not be accepted.

5. No responsibility can be accepted for entries which are incomplete, delayed, corrupted, damaged, wrongly delivered or not received for whatsoever reason.

6. Any entrant who does not provide all required details on the entry form will be disqualified.

7. All entrants will be placed in a category depending on their date of birth at point of entry and not at time of judging.

8. All entries must be between 200 and 300 words inclusive. All entries which exceed or fall short of the word count will be disqualified. The title is not included in the word count. All abbreviations, numbers and words with apostrophes will count as the full word.

9. Entries in the two-to-five category can be written by and with the help of an adult/parent providing the actual story and majority of wording has been created by a child.

10. All entries must be your own original works. Any entries which are plagiarized, copied, or fraudulent; infringe upon existing rights of others will be disqualified.

11. There are three categories – two to five years; six to eight years; nine to twelve years. There will be three winners from each category. Each winner will win a trip to Paradise Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire for up to four people (2 adults and 2 children under 16). The prize includes one night’s accommodation in a family room on a bed and breakfast basis only on a specified date in June or July 2012, subject to availability. Prize does not include travel, additional meals or expenses or spending money. Each winner will receive a £500 cheque for their nominated school or nursery to spend on books. Each winner will also have their story printed in a vanity book and receive a selection of books.

12. The prizes must be accepted as offered. There are no cash or alternative prizes, in whole or part. The £500 prize for books will be a cheque made payable to your school or nursery. All winners’ cheques will be sent directly to the nominated school or nursery. If the winner of the two to five category does not attend either school or nursery, the cheque can be donated to a sibling’s school or nursery. In the event that this is not possible, the cheque must be donated to a local educational establishment or library. Contact Cyborg on 0208 782 3332 for a list of schools in your area.

13. The prizes will be awarded to the three entrants in each category whose story, in the opinion of the judges, including one independent judge, are the most original stories that reflect healthy living or eating and which creatively bring  the Goodness characters to life. Entries will be judged on content, creativity and originality.

14. The winners will be notified by post within 28 days of closing date. If a winner cannot be contacted within a further 28 days, the promoter reserves the right to withdraw prize entitlement and will award the prize to a runner up chosen at the same time as the original.

15. Judges’ decision is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into. Entry implies acceptance of these terms and conditions.

16. The winners may be required to take part in publicity resulting from this competition with no further recompense.

17. When you submit any materials, including the story, via the promotion, you thereby licence and grant the promoter, its affiliates and sub-licensees an exclusive, royalty free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable and sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish and display such content for any purpose in any media, without compensation, restriction on use, attribution or liability. You agree not to assert any moral rights in relation to such use, where moral rights in respect of the content are yours to assert. You warrant that the story is your original works and that it has not been copied, in whole or in part, from any other material and that you have the full authority to grant these rights to the promoter. Entries cannot be returned.

18. This competition across different media and with different treatments.

19. The winners’ initials, counties and winning entries will be available 28 days after the closing date for a period of three months. Please send an SAE to Goodness Writing Competition, Tesco magazine, Cedar Communications Ltd, 85 Strand, London, WC2R 0DW.
